MENTORING FOR INTERNATIONALLY EDUCATED PROFESSIONALS (M4IEP)

Are you interested in becoming a mentor or mentee?

The Mentoring for Internationally Educated Professionals program is to assist skilled internationally educated professionals in their settlement process, language skills development, entrepreneurship guidance and search for employment by matching them with industry-specific mentors.

MENTEE CRITERIA

  • Have professional qualifications
  • Have professional experience outside Canada
  • Have been in Canada for less than 10 years
  • Is highly motivated, and committed to meet with a mentor, 1 hour per week for up to 4 months Find a Mentor

A mentor can clarify your expectations, talk candidly about what you need to succeed, and in many cases, introduce you to great new people.

BECOME A MENTOR

Mentoring for Internationally Educated Professionals Program welcomes professionals who want to volunteer their time as a mentor. We host orientation sessions for mentors to get them started. You can register for the program directly via our e-mentoring portal.

We welcome individuals from all professional backgrounds to become part of the mentoring program.

Get involved in a rewarding volunteer experience. Mentoring includes professional development, language skills, entrepreneurship and helping newcomers settle into a new life in Canada.

Mentoring takes as little as one hour per week over four months. Meetings can occur at a mutually convenient time and place as well as virtually over phone or Skype. We also hold regular mentor orientation evenings and encourage all mentors to attend one of our information and orientation sessions for mentors to learn more about becoming a mentor and strategies for a successful mentoring relationship.

OUR MENTORING SERVICES INCLUDE

  • Support for new Canadians in providing information and helping identify various community
  • Individual language mentoring for building effective conversation and communication skills
  • Job search support and guidance in expanding professional network
  • Coaching and guidance to starting your own business as well as support of resources
  • Training in Canadian workplace culture and expectations
  • Workshops and training specifically for job seekers who are IEPs
  • Guest speakers, including former IEP participants
